Lake Tahoe! This was one of the stops from the Soarin' ride. We didn't go skiing, but we did go to a ski resort and ride a ski lift. We rode the cable up to the top of Heavenly Mountain. ![]() ![]() This is a stop on the long ride to the top where you can get a view of the whole lake. ![]() From the resort and restaurant area at the top of the lift, we took another ski lift up to the peak of the mountain. ![]() At the top, surprisingly, you can see Lake Tahoe and all of Carson City at the same time. It is remarkable how much higher the lake is than Carson City. ![]() From that same point is the beginning of a zipline that Don and Rachel ventured onto. This zipline is called Blue Streak and is 3300 feet long - that is over 0.6 miles. Going that far you get quite a bit of speed - up to about 50 MPH. ![]() After Heavenly, we headed over to Emerald Bay. ![]() Don was looking for an old castle to visit, but by accident we stumbled upon (and there's several places where you definately do not want to stumble) the unusual Eagle Falls overlooking Emerald Bay. ![]() With a little bit of hiking, you can stand in the middle of the waterfall. ![]() ![]() With a little bit more hiking, you can reach this prime seat. ![]() Our last stop on the way back to Reno was Cave Rock, mysteriously overlooking Lake Tahoe. It is hard to get perspective in this picture, but the rock is about 140 feet high. ![]() Yosemite |
