Leaving Death Valley we crossed many miles of farmland on the way back to the coast. Our first stop was a visit to Hearst Castle.

Don vaguely remembered visiting here at the Roman pool when his parents brought him here at about age 5.

We explored the beautiful coastline and downtown Carmel. There are lots of seals and other wildlife to observe.

We found a group of seals taking their naps on the beach. Occasionally, one would sound off with a loud belching sound.

Not far away was an island inhabited by playful seals and birds.

At Pebble Beach we stopped for a good look at the famous Lone Cypress.
